The Dignified Poseidonia

Formerly known as Delagrazia from the Catholic Church of Madonna de la Gratsia, it eventually prevailed with the name of ancient Posidonia, dedicated to god Neptune as the classy resort of Syros.

Furthermore, in the settlement, the country villas dominate with the turrets and gardens that travel the visitors to the glory of another era, while the orthodox church of Agios Ioannis, the Catholic church of St. Peter, the Agathopes with the sea lions, the beaches of Fetouri, Voulgari and Komi, as well as the tennis court and the Posidonia club attract a number of holidaymakers, especially during the summer months. The Bishopric or Piskopio was the first seat of the Metropolis of Syros and the bishop’s residence, hence the name of the settlement. On the green hill of the Episkopi, the first mansions of the rulers were built for this and it has since been considered one of the most impressive resorts on the island. Located on the road to Kini, just 4.5 km from Ermoupolis, it offers magnificent view.
